Description
About Ottopia Defense We're building the intelligence powering the Unmanned Ground Force. Ottopia Defense, an Ondas company, is an AI-native Deep Tech company revolutionizing ground defense through software, hardware, robotics, and autonomy. Our technologies span autonomous navigation, resilient teleoperation, intelligent mission command, and human-machine collaboration, transforming fleets and robots into a coordinated, intelligent force. We combine the ambition, agility, and ownership of a startup with the resources and global reach of public US company. We hire AI-native people only: exceptional builders who embrace AI as a fundamental part of how they think, create, and solve problems. People who thrive on bold challenges, move fast, and are driven to build technology that changes the world. About The Role Ottopia Defense is looking for a Software Engineer to develop and evolve the core software platform behind our unmanned and autonomous systems. C++ is a major part of the stack, but the role is intentionally broader and spans multiple technologies and layers of the system. This is a broad, hands-on systems role spanning multiple parts of the product, including vehicle-side software, communications, data transport, video and telemetry pipelines, operator-side components, and shared platform infrastructure. You will work across subsystem boundaries, own features end to end, and help ensure that the complete Ottopia Defense system is performant, reliable, maintainable, and ready for operational deployment. Responsibilities Design and implement production-grade software across multiple components of the Ottopia Defense platform, with significant hands-on development in modern C++. Develop Linux-based services and libraries used on vehicle-side, edge, and operator-side systems. Build low-latency networking, control, telemetry, and data-processing components. Develop multithreaded and asynchronous components with clear state management, fault handling, and recovery behavior. Integrate internal services and subsystems through well-defined APIs, protocols, and messaging interfaces. Improve system performance, including latency, CPU usage, memory usage, throughput, and startup or recovery time. Design robust behavior for degraded connectivity, process failures, reconnects, timeouts, and partial system failures. Debug complex cross-component issues using logs, traces, packet captures, metrics, core dumps, and system-level analysis. Contribute reusable libraries, infrastructure, tooling, and architectural improvements shared across multiple products and programs. Own features from design and implementation through testing, integration, deployment, and field validation. Requirements Strong professional experience with modern C++ (C++17/20 or later). Strong Linux development, systems programming, and debugging skills. Strong experience with multithreaded, asynchronous, or event-driven software. Strong networking fundamentals, including TCP/UDP and distributed-system failure modes. Experience developing production software with performance, reliability, and maintainability requirements. Strong software-design skills, the ability to work effectively across existing large codebases, and willingness to work across multiple languages, technologies, and system layers as needed. Excellent debugging, root-cause-analysis, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to take ownership of complex features that span more than one subsystem or component. Advantages ROS / ROS2 or other robotics middleware. Low-latency networking, QUIC, gRPC, ZeroMQ, or similar communication technologies. Video or media pipelines such as GStreamer, hardware encoding, or real-time streaming. NVIDIA Jetson or other embedded / edge-compute platforms. Embedded Linux, Docker, and deployment on heterogeneous compute targets. Experience with robotics, automotive, defense, or other mission-critical systems. Experience with teleoperation, autonomous systems, distributed control systems, or real-time applications.
