Backend & AI Developer | Java, MongoDB, BigQuery

TheMarker is looking for a Junior- Mid Backend & AI Developer to join our technology team and help build and evolve our digital products, services, and AI-powered capabilities. This is a hands-on development role at the intersection of Backend Engineering, Data, Cloud and Generative AI . You will develop production Backend services while taking an active role in building and integrating AI-powered solutions, including AI Agents and LLM-based capabilities , into real products, systems and workflows. We're looking for a developer with a strong Backend foundation, excellent problem-solving skills, technological curiosity and a genuine interest in applying AI to real-world challenges. What You'll Do Develop and maintain Backend services and APIs using Java MongoDB and BigQuery Design and build services, APIs, and integrations between systems Work with databases and data platforms, with a focus on MongoDB and BigQuery Develop and deploy services in GCP Build and integrate Generative AI and AI Agent solutions Connect LLMs to APIs, databases, tools, and internal data sources Identify opportunities to introduce AI and automation into existing products and workflows Develop services supporting TheMarker's digital products, content platforms, CMS, newsletters, and internal systems Work with Data to support the development of new products, services, and processes Troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability and performance Apply Secure Development practices throughout the development lifecycle Collaborate with Product, Digital, Data, Content, and technology partners Reqirements: 2+ years of hands-on Backend development experienced with Java, MongoDB and BigQuery- Must! Hands-on familiarity or practical experience with Generative AI technologies- Must Professional Java development experience Experience developing and integrating APIs / Web Services Experience working with databases Good understanding of Backend and Web architectures Familiarity with Cloud environments Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn independently Ability to take a task or technical challenge from initial requirement through to a working solution in Production Strong Advantages Experience with one or more of the following is a significant advantage: GCP MongoDB BigQuery Developing AI Agents Connecting LLMs to APIs, tools, and data sources RAG, Embeddings, and Vector Databases Docker, CI/CD, or Kubernetes Secure Coding and application security principles High-traffic digital platforms Media, content, or digital product environments Who Will Succeed in This Role?
