Senior Backend / R&D Engineer

FAZE Security is hiring! We're looking for a talented Senior Backend / R&D Engineer with strong Python development skills, a solid understanding of complex systems, and hands-on experience building scalable backend solutions, integrations, and cloud infrastructure. We're looking for an engineer who goes beyond writing code- someone who can design architecture, solve complex technical challenges, and take full ownership of solutions from initial design to production. What You'll Do Design, develop, and maintain complex backend systems using Python. Build REST APIs and backend services using Flask and similar frameworks. Develop third-party integrations using APIs, Webhooks, OAuth 2.0, and authentication mechanisms. Design and implement cloud-based services and infrastructure on AWS. Work with SQL and NoSQL databases, including data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning. Build and deploy containerized services using Docker. Develop automation tools and internal processes to improve product performance, reliability, and efficiency. Troubleshoot complex issues across applications, infrastructure, and networking. Lead technical solutions and contribute to architecture decisions as part of FAZE's R&D team. Requirements Strong hands-on experience with Python and developing complex, production-grade backend systems. Proven experience with Flask, REST APIs, and server-side development. Experience building integrations using OAuth 2.0, Webhooks, Tokens, and authentication protocols. Strong AWS experience, including cloud architecture, compute, storage, and networking. Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized environments. Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, particularly PostgreSQL / MySQL and MongoDB. Solid understanding of HTTP/HTTPS, networking, authentication, and service-to-service communication. Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, testing, and software development best practices. Strong system design, debugging, and problem-solving skills. Nice to Have Experience with AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, S3, RDS, and IAM. Familiarity with Kubernetes, Microservices, asynchronous processing, message queues, and background workers. Experience with browser automation tools such as Playwright or Selenium. Experience integrating with GitHub, GitLab, Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or other SaaS platforms. Familiarity with AI, LLMs, and AI Agents. Background in Cybersecurity or Application Security. A relevant degree in Computer Science / Engineering or a background in a military technology unit.
