Senior AI Engineer

Edventures is building an AI-powered learning platform used by teachers and students. We are a small team looking for a senior engineer who can take a problem from idea to production without handoffs. The role: You will be a technical leader across the whole stack: AI, backend, frontend, infrastructure and product. You will make architecture decisions, ship major features yourself, and raise the bar for the team through mentoring and code review. What you'll do: Own large features end to end: product thinking, design, implementation, rollout and monitoring. Design and evolve our AI features: prompts, pipelines, model selection, quality, cost and latency (LLMs, speech, vision). Architect and scale the backend: Node.js APIs, PostgreSQL, job queues and workers, cloud infrastructure. Build polished, fast React interfaces and keep the frontend maintainable. Work directly with the users to decide what to build and what not to build. Mentor junior engineers, review code, and set engineering standards. Improve reliability, security, performance and developer workflow. What we're looking for: Bachelor or Master's degree in Engineering field. 4+ years of professional experience building and shipping production software. Strong in both backend (Node.js, SQL, queues, APIs) and frontend (React, state management, performance). Hands-on experience with LLMs in production, such as prompt design, evaluation, and handling cost and failures. Experience with cloud platforms (we use Google Cloud) and CI/CD. Product mindset: you challenge requirements and care about user outcomes, not just code. Comfortable with ambiguity, and able to make good trade-offs between speed and quality. Experience mentoring or leading engineers. Excellent English, written and spoken. Hebrew is not required. Nice to have: Startup or early-stage experience. Experience with real-time features, speech/voice, or document processing. Background in EdTech. What we offer: High ownership and a real say in technical and product direction.
