AI Software Engineer

About the job Opmed.ai is a rapidly growing healthcare AI startup helping leading health systems optimize their operations. Our platform is already in use at major health systems and large networks. We are looking for an AI Engineer , who is comfortable owning the full path from ideation to production — designing the product’s technical solution, building the services around it, and shipping it to real health systems. Responsibilities: Own features end-to-end: from spec and design through development, automated testing, and clean delivery against our Definition of Done. Develop and maintain our SaaS platform using modern web technologies and AI-led development workflows. Collaborate with product and design teams to build user-friendly and scalable solutions. Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code. Troubleshoot and debug applications across the stack. Stay current with emerging GenAI tooling, frameworks, and development practices. Requirements: Experience: At least 5 years as a full-stack developer in a fast-paced R&D environment with the ability to develop features end-to-end. GenAI Tooling: Hands-on proficiency with the latest GenAI tooling and frameworks (agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor, LLM APIs, agent SDKs, MCP) as part of daily development. AI-led SDLC: Proven experience owning the full development lifecycle with AI in the loop: speccing, implementation, automated testing, and meeting DoD cleanly and at high quality. Frontend Development: At least 2 year with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue) and state management libraries such as Redux, along with proficiency in TypeScript, HTML, and CSS. Backend Development: Minimum of 3 years with Python or Node.js. Databases: Demonstrated hands-on experience with relational (SQL) and non-relational (NoSQL) databases. Cloud Environments: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and cloud-native software development. API Development: Experience with RESTful APIs. Version Control: Proficient with Git and collaborative development workflows. Team Player: Enjoys working in a dynamic, business-oriented environment. Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. It will be great if you have: AWS Managed Services: Familiarity with services like EKS, SQS, SNS, S3, Lambda, and DynamoDB. Medical Applications: Experience working with medical-oriented applications. DevOps: Experience with modern CI/CD pipelines, Serverless architecture, Docker, and Kubernetes. Open Source: Active involvement in open source projects. Education: Academic degree in Computer Science or equivalent. Agile Methodologies: Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
